The details

What is closed, and when

The City of Hamilton's list of scheduled lane restrictions and road closures, last modified October 29, 2026 and checked again on the morning of October 30, includes a Halloween closure on Hyde Park Avenue on Saturday evening and a closure of North Service Road for the Hamilton Road2Hope Marathon on Sunday morning. It also showed a daytime lane occupancy on the southbound Red Hill Valley Parkway for Friday, October 30, and several other restrictions ending that day, some of which appear below.

From the City's closures list, as of October 30, 2026
Friday, October 30, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Lane occupancy on Red Hill Valley Parkway southbound, Queenston Road to King Street (guide rail repairs)
Saturday, October 31, 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Hyde Park Avenue closed from Glenside Avenue to Hillcrest Avenue (Halloween festivities)
Sunday, November 1, 7 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
North Service Road closed from Grays Road to Millen Road (Hamilton Road2Hope Marathon)

For the marathon, the City's list shows only the North Service Road segment. It does not list other streets on the race course, so this story describes only the closure and detour the City has posted.

Sunday: the HSR Route 11 detour

HSR's schedules and detours page lists a detour of Route 11 Parkdale for the Road2Hope Marathon, effective Sunday, November 1, with operating hours of 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. All northbound stops along Beach Boulevard are out of service. HSR says northbound buses will continue north on Eastport Drive from Beach Boulevard, turn right onto Beach Boulevard and travel south picking up riders on both sides of the road, then turn right on Eastport Drive and resume their regular route north of Beach Boulevard.

HSR says buses will stop on the west side of Beach Boulevard to serve northbound riders during the detour, and the bus will wait while the operator waves riders across the road. The detour's hours, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., are HSR's own and differ from the 7 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. road closure on the City's list. As of October 30, Route 11 was the only marathon detour on the HSR page.
