The details
What is closed and why
Hamilton Public Health's Mountain Dental Clinic, at Unit 106 A-891 Upper James Street, is temporarily closed from October 20 to November 20, 2026, the City says. A communication update to the Board of Health and Council dated October 15 says the closure is for remediation of the concrete substrate, replacement of damaged flooring and deep cleaning of the site before it reopens. It says the flooring was installed in 2024 during renovations for the Ontario Seniors Dental Care Program, and that the replacement will be funded through the existing program budget.

Where to go during the closure
The City says clients affected by the closure will be notified and their appointments accommodated at other Hamilton Public Health dental clinic locations, and that clinic staff are being reassigned to the locations where services have moved. For adult emergencies, the City's emergency dental page says services have temporarily relocated to the Robert Thomson Building, 110 King Street West, 3rd floor, with the exception of the last Wednesday of the month.
- Who can use emergency dental services: City of Hamilton residents who are considered low-income and have no dental insurance and no dental care program coverage.
- How it works: same-day walk-in visits. Arrive at 8:30 a.m. to tell staff about your emergency; visit times go to the most severe emergencies, and you may not get a visit that day if times are filled.
- The page also lists the Seniors Bus at Dominic Agostino Riverdale Community Centre, 150 Violet Drive, for emergency visits on the last Wednesday of each month.
Other Public Health dental locations
The October 15 update says Hamilton Public Health also delivers these programs at the Downtown Dental Clinic, the East End Dental Clinic and on the Seniors Dental Bus. The City's adult and senior dental page gives the Downtown clinic as 3rd floor, Jackson Square, 110 King Street West, and the East End clinic as 247 Centennial Parkway North, Unit 8. Clinic services other than emergencies are by appointment only.
