Turnout
The City says 147,299 ballots were cast, 31.61 per cent of Hamilton's eligible voters, compared with 35.38 per cent in the 2022 municipal election, and that more than 110,000 voters cast their ballots on election day at 106 voting locations. On election night, with all 237 polls reported, the City's results page showed 147,196 ballots, a turnout of 31.59 per cent; the certified count adds the 103 ballots from five community polls. Vote shares in this story are each candidate's votes as a share of all votes cast in that race, so they do not use the ballot count as the base.
What happens next
The City Clerk certified these results on October 29, 2026. On election night the City had said election staff would review and reconcile the results from every voting location, including advance polls, community polls and ballot-on-demand votes, before the City Clerk certified them. Under the Municipal Elections Act, 1996, the four-year term of the new Council begins on November 15, 2026. Every race, with the full candidate lists, is under Election 2026 in the site menu.
